ncbi-entrez-direct (23.8.20250408+dfsg-1) experimental; urgency=medium

I have, at least for now, abandoned the manpages as too much of a
maintenance burden and disabled their installation to avoid
misrepresentation. However, many commands support a -help flag, and
overall documentation remains available in README.gz and online at
  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK179288.

ncbi-entrez-direct (14.0.20201111+dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=medium

The main commands for working with NCBI Entrez servers have migrated from
Perl to shell (backed by curl or wget) by default. If this change is
somehow a problem, you can revert to the historical Perl implementations
by invoking these commands with the -oldmode flag or by setting the
  environment variable USE_NEW_EDIRECT to "0", "off" (case-insensitive),
"false" (case-insensitive), or "no" (case-insensitive). (The new
implementation is expected to work, though.)

Meanwhile, transmute has a wholly new Go/shell implementation with a
somewhat different interface. (The Go portions were originally in
xtract, which forwards them for now, albeit on an undocumented basis.)
